Renu Brij

Chairperson

Renu is a graduate of Lady Irwin College, New Delhi, and Institute of Integrative Nutrition, New York. She is very passionate about social equality and also about nutrition, which she believes is the foundation of wellness. Education, public health and environment are the 3 cornerstones of improving life conditions and economic background in India. Renu returned to India from the USA after 15 years, and set up the Brij Foundation in 2016 to create impact in these 3 key areas. As Chairperson, Renu approves all grants and maintains relationships with partner organizations.

Manu Bhatnagar

Manu Bhatnagar is an urban and environmental planner with over 2 decades of experience in the environment sector. He currently heads the Natural Heritage Division at INTACH as Principal Director. Besides a Masters Degree in Urban & Regional Planning from Cornell University, USA,  he has qualifications in Strategic Environmental Assessment, Ecology and Habitat Management, Environmental Law, Conservation of Rivers and Lakes, Disaster Management from prestigious institutes.
As trustee, he advises Brij Foundation on environment related projects.

Rashmi Swarup

Rashmi Swarup is a Superintendent of Education in York Region District School Board in Ontario, Canada. As an educator with over 30 years of local and international experience, Rashmi has influenced school education through innovative practices in the areas of equity, social justice and parent engagement for which she has been recognized and awarded locally and globally, Rashmi is also a Ted Ed innovative Educator who encourages student voice and ideas. Rashmi advises the Brij Foundation on the development of its education program.

Ria Brij

Ria assesses grant proposals and leads program evaluation. She received her Masters in Public Health from Columbia University , USA, in 2018 and her Bachelors in Psychology from Bryn Mawr College, USA, in 2013. She has experience working for a range of global health organizations in a program evaluation and grant-writing capacity. She is passionate about decreasing social disparities in health and increasing access to quality education and healthcare for poor and rural populations in India, with a special focus on mental health.

Karn Brij

Karn is a graduate of the George Washington University, USA. He is an investor and entrepreneur who is interested in sustainable business ideas. Karn is Group Chief Executive Officer at the Anga Group, an international alternative asset investment business. With more than a decade of experience in financial services, Karn advises the Brij Foundation on its annual budget & program spending.In addition he also leads the Foundation’s fundraising initiatives, directing them into appropriate programs.
