education

Access to quality education is not a privilege – it’s a fundamental right. Yet across India, nearly 300 million children and adults still lack literacy.  Literacy rates have made impressive strides from just 12% in 1947 to 81% in 2024 – but  India continues to trail the global average of 86%.  Stark disparities remain: rural areas average 78% literacy, women 75%,  while urban and male populations reach 89% and 87% respectively. Millions of students still face systemic barriers to learning.

At the Brij Foundation we believe that education unlocks opportunity – and every child deserves the tools to thrive.   We focus our efforts on under-resourced communities, partnering with NGO-run schools, improving infrastructure, funding scholarships, and equipping students with technology and life skills to build a better future.

Smartphones to Students for online classes

The lockdowns which have happened due to the pandemic this year,  have paralyzed the education system everywhere.  Schools and colleges have been closed and the new normal has become online classes for students. This switch to online learning has affected disadvantaged children and their families severely, as smartphones are out of their reach.  Brij Foundation has provided  20 smartphones to students of Swami Sivanand Memorial Institute so that they are able to continue with their education.

Computer Lab for KWV School, Rishikesh

In the age of technology, knowing how to navigate a computer is an essential skill. Further, computer learning programs give students the opportunity to expand their horizons to learn skills they would not have the opportunity to acquire in the traditional classroom. Brij Foundation built a computer lab for KWV School in Rishikesh to provide children from disadvantaged backgrounds the benefit of computer literacy

Workshops

Our team conducts workshops in various schools in Delhi and Gurgaon. These workshops, which focus on a range of topics from nutrition to mental health and life skills, provide students with awareness and reinforce positive habits.

Scholarships

Brij Foundation expands educational opportunity by awarding scholarships to children from families with the greatest need so that they can attend school/college. Just one scholarship can mean generations of financial stability and success for a disadvantaged child and their family.
